The employees of GIODO Bureau shall increase their qualifications

In 2009 and 2010 the employees of the GIODO Bureau shall participate in the international exchange of employees of European data protection authorities, which shall enable them to gain new knowledge and experiences.

The project, which is to be launched in August 2009, shall enable the employees of GIODO to exchange the knowledge and experiences in law enforcement in the field of data protection with authorities from partner countries dealing with similar issues. The participants of the exchange shall have an opportunity to use their knowledge in practice and to gain new information and experiences related to data protection, according to the scope of their responsibilities.

The project shall comprise selected groups of employees dealing with education and trainings, controlling data processing and registration of data filing systems.

The participants of the project shall be delegated for 1- or 2-week stays on the premises of data protection authorities participating in the project: the Slovenian Data Protection Commissioner, the Cyprian Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, the Hungarian Parliamentary Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information and the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. The agenda of each visit shall be adapted to the individual needs of each participant related to the nature of his/her responsibilities.

As a result, the participants of the project shall broaden their knowledge and skills in the field of enforcement of Community law, exchange experiences related to the way that respective authorities function and compare the practices they use and develop their linguistic skills.

The project shall be carried out from August 1st 2009 to June 30th 2010. It shall be financed from EU funds within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, a part of the Lifelong Learning Programme.

The project is a continuation of the mobility project carried out in the years 2007-2008, during which 21 employees of the Bureau had an opportunity to gain knowledge of the tasks carried out in partner data protection authorities from 6 EU countries: Germany, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Finland and Czech Republic.
