The Polish Radio’s broadcast on the conduct of marketing companies, 18 August 2009

During one hour broadcast held in the 1st Programme of the Polish Radio on 18 August 2009 a report by Ewelina Karpacz-Oboładze entitled „How did you find out so much about me?” was presented.

It was a starting point for a discussion on awareness of personal data protection provisions and carelessness in managing our personal data.

The participants of the discussion were Michał Serzycki, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection and Agnieszka Majchrzak from the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.

Calls from listeners proved that companies carrying out marketing campaigns often violate personal data protection provisions.

So, Michał Serzycki drew attention to the obligations resulting from the Act on Perosnal Data Protection, including the information obligation. He stressed that many marketing activities depend on our consent to the processing of our personal data, which we often recklessly express not thinking about the consequences.

Jerzy Zawartka was the host.
