GIODO in the Polish Radio Rzeszów, 3 September 2009
During a broadcast held on the Polish Radio Rzeszów on 3 September 2009, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection advised the listeners on how to protect themselves against attacks by anonymous Internet users.
The intention of the journalist Alina Pochwat – Cicha was to make the listeners aware of the fact when the insulting comments added by anonymous users could be regarded as calumny or violation of personal rights.
In the course of the live broadcast, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection explained that in those kinds of situations we were not helpless, and that we could pursue our rights to personal data protection, privacy and good reputation on the basis of a variety of provisions, including those specified in the Penal Code, the Civil Code, the Act on Providing Services by Electronic Means or the Act on Personal Data Protection.
