For Rado VOX on data security, 7 September 2009
The interview given by Michał Serzycki, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection to the journalist Waldemar Maniewski from Radio VOX and Radio Eska on 7 September 2009 was devoted to data security on the Internet.
The interview was conducted in connection with revealed theft of around 100 000 passwords and e-mails of users of a certain networking site. The journalist was interested in the ways of protecting oneself against such incidents.
GIODO reminded the Internet users to make sure whether a given networking site guarantees data encryption during teletransmission. He also advised them to be especially careful when using the Web, i.e. to use passwords which are difficult to break and avoid using the same passwords in all situations, among others during e-transactions.
