Interview for TVN24 on security on the Web, 9 September 2009

The interview given by Michał Serzycki, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, to Rafał Poniatowski from TVN24 television station was devoted to secure use of the Internet.

The journalist asked whether the security systems applied by networking sites were good enough to guarantee proper protection to their users. In his comment, GIODO reminded the users of some basic principles to be followed when using the Internet.

He said that it was worth paying attention to which information about ourselves we placed on the Web, especially when its disclosure was not necessary. Having regard to the characteristics of the Internet one needs to remember that the information once placed on the Internet usually stays there, because it’s very difficult and sometimes even impossible to remove.
