Interview for „Przegląd Komunalny” magazine, 17 September 2009

The protection of personal data in the sector of municipal services management was the subject of the interview given by Michał Serzycki, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, to Piotr Strzyżyński, deputy editor-in-chief of „Przegląd Komunalny” (“Municipal Review”) magazine.

During the interview GIODO explained why our personal data should be protected and which data protection related obligations should be fulfilled by communes and enterprises providing municipal services.

He presented the data protection situation in communes and companies operating in the area of municipal services and informed about the sanctions which could be imposed on data controllers for inadequate safeguarding of data.

He also explained how to behave in case of finding, for example on a dump, the information containing personal data – which procedures should be used, who should be notified and what was the liability for that kind of act.
