The conversation at TVN CNBC Biznes was devoted to the protection of personal data collected by the Catholic Church and other religious associations.
Michał Serzycki, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, explained during the interview the basic principles in this regard being in force. He clarified that in pursuing its mission the Church protected personal data on the basis of legal regulations such as the Code of Canonic Law and the Act on Personal Data Protection.
He also referred to the Guidelines on „Personal Data Protection in the Activity of the Catholic Church in Poland” developed by GIODO and the Secretariat of the Conference of the Episcopate of Poland and signed on 23 September 2009. He said that the Guidelines constituted a code of good practice containing a set of principles on personal data protection in the church, and their dissemination in parishes would certainly contribute to raising awareness of the clergy in that regard.
The interview was conducted by Jola Wiśniewska.
