GIODO on Radio Dla Ciebie, 20 October 2009

Identity fraud is a real threat – warned GIODO during the conversation on Radio dla Ciebie (Radio for You).

We are threatened with identity theft in particular when we are recklessly using the Internet. Therefore, Michał Serzycki, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection reminded the listeners of Radio Dla Ciebie to use different, properly built passwords when signing in to networking sites, and in particular when using e-banking, and to change the passwords at least once a month. He indicated that secure password should be made up of at least 8 uppercase and lowercase letters and special characters.

- One needs to remember that no bank ever asks us to give our login or PIN number on the Internet or by e-mail– he said.

Michał Serzycki advised parents to supervise their children’s activity on the Internet, because children are very credulous and see the world less critically and thus can more easily become a victim of frauds.

The interview was conducted by Krzysztof Grzesiowski.
