Security reasons allow companies to keep sign in and out books – said GIODO during the interview for Radio TOK FM.
He drew attention to the fact that it was not allowed to collect excessive data in relation to the purpose for which they were collected, which in that case was ensuring security.
- Moreover – said Michał Serzycki, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection – the collected data shall be used only for the purpose for which they have been collected.
The data shall not be stored longer than necessary to achieve this purpose. According to GIODO, in general they shall be destroyed after one year.
In connection with the fact that the journalist from Radio TOK FM Wawrzyniec Zakrzewski asked whether the data contained in sign in and out books were secure, GIODO emphasised that companies keeping such books were obliged to secure them adequately.
