The Sejm adopted the Activity Report of GIODO for the years 2007/2008

On 6 November 2009, at the 53rd meeting of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland (the Polish Parliament), the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection presented the Activity Report for the years 2007-2008.

The Activity Report of GIODO was unanimously adopted by all parliamentary clubs. The MPs positively evaluated the activity of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection (GIODO), emphasising the proper and comprehensive performance of statutory tasks by GIODO and pointing at active, lively and substantive activity for the benefit of personal data protection.

The clubs stressed the intensity of the Inspector General’s works, which is proved by the number of inspections conducted in the years 2007-2008 and the number of general approaches to government authorities and other entities. Attention was also drawn to the new, important element of GIODO’s activity in the recent years, i.e. educational activities and training courses conducted in institutions and organisations.

The MPs stated that despite of the upward trend in the number of filed complaints the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection notes a decrease in the number of justified complaints, which is mainly the consequence of GIODO’s close cooperation with particular institutions, growing awareness of existing procedures and GIODO’s focus on information and education activity in the area of personal data protection and processing.
