GIODO educates Nasza Klasa users, 24 November 2009
GIODO has begun cooperation with Nasza Klasa social networking site, where in a special tab it helps users to safely use the Internet and properly protect personal data.
The Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, Michał Serzycki has been warning and informing for a long time that, wherever possible, we should take care of the security of our personal data by ourselves. – Only high awareness can protect us from the risks connected with imprudent disclosure of our personal data.
In order to raise the knowledge on personal data protection and the right to privacy GIODO has been undertaking many educational activities. One of them is entering into cooperation with Nasza Klasa social networking site, where a special tab „Security” has been created.
In this tab the basic information on safe use of the Internet will be placed. This information is addressed to:
- children,
- youth,
- adults, and
- the whole families.
The forms of education are diversified, because they have been adapted to particular groups of recipients. Thinking about the youngest Internet users, interesting materials in simple language were developed, and to make the education more attractive e.g. cartoons were created.
The tab „Security” contains materials devoted inter alia to:
- the consequences of ill-considered activities on the Internet,
- the proper supervision over the activity of children on the Internet,
- the principles of polite behaviour on the Web,
- the presentation of institutions offering help for the victims of cyber-bullying.
The Inspector General for Personal Data Protection and the Police have their permanent sections in this tab.
Many materials placed by GIODO on Nasza Klasa networking site point at the risks related to the development of modern technologies. They include among others:
- explanations, which information, in particular related to the use of civilization achievements, shall be regarded as personal data,
- hints how to safely use the Internet,
- basic information on identity fraud and advice on how to behave in order to protect oneself against it,
- answers to frequently asked questions,
- GIODO publication „ABC of risks of personal data protection security in ICT systems”.
