
GIODO Bureau is carrying out another EU-funded partnership project within the framework of Leonardo da Vinci Programme, entitled “Perception of data protection and privacy issues by children and teenagers”. The project shall be carried out in the years 2010-2012 in cooperation with the Hungarian Data Protection and Freedom of Information Commissioner and the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency.
One of the most significant problems observed by the European Data Protection Authorities is the lack of complex knowledge on perception of data protection and privacy issues by children and teenagers. The problem is of particular importance in the light of the dynamic evolution of new technologies and a number of services allowing for an easy identification of citizens. Due to this fact, it is important to discover the scope of the problem and the current attitudes of children and teenagers towards personal data and their privacy.
The purpose of the project is to conduct a study of Polish, Croatian and Hungarian children and teenagers in order to assess their attitude towards data and privacy protection. As a result, a report summing up the study and presenting an assessment of this phenomenon in three EU Member States is to be published.
