TVN CNBC Biznes asks about the protection of entrepreneur data, 10 August 2010

I shall oversee the data protection issues during all stages of legislative process – says GIODO.

Wojciech Wiewiórowski, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection (GIODO) made such declaration in TVN CNBC Biznes, during an interview with Paweł Blajer.

The interview concentrated on the protection of data of persons conducting economic activity. According to GIODO, entrepreneurs, especially sole traders, need to accept the fact that data which identify them in economic circulation, are public due, among other things, to the need to ensure the security of economic circulation.

However, the situations where certain information items are public needs to be distinguished from their full availability in the Internet. GIODO gave the example of court calendars which, in his opinion, should not be available online. Information concerning court proceedings against a given person, found in the Internet, may have very serious consequences for the persons concerned, including entrepreneurs.
