One of the topics discussed during the meeting of the Experts Commission was the issue of challenges faced by DPOs in connection with the need to implement personal data protection reform.
The meeting of the Experts Commission for the reform of personal data protection in the EU appointed by GIODO was held on 1 March 2017, with participation of Dr Edyta Bielak-Jomaa, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection (GIODO).
The discussions were focused on the experts’ opinions concerning among others challenges faced by data protection inspectors (DPOs) in connection with the need to implement personal data protection reform. The participants discussed as well possible forms of cooperation between the supervisory authority and DPOs under the General Data Protection Regulation. An important point of the meeting was the discussion on the Article 29 Working Party’s Guidelines regarding the application of the GDPR and the WP29 activities scheduled for 2017. GIODO’s proposals as regards the future regulations on DPOs were discussed as well.
